Rockabye Noah

It's a  beautiful night to play outside. After Noah had busied himself with golf, peeing in a hole the dog dug in the yard, and coloring on mommy's papers, he decided it was time for a little cuddle. He curled up in my lap on the swing and we sang variations of "Rock-a-bye baby" and "Itsy bitsy spider" all which usually ended in a tickle session. It was so great to have him all to myself and to have him look up at me with his big brown eyes. There's just never enough of those moments no matter how many you get!

Pool Fun

We've been down to GeeGee and Poppy's house swimming the last two days. I'm so proud of my little fish! He was jumping off the side into the water and doing his best to swim with his foaty on. I wish that I could bottle up the look of sheer glee and delight shining in his eyes and save it forever to cheer me up on days when I need a little extra love. He'd look at me after a big splash and squeal "Do it again!"

I'm NOAH!

After a dinner of spaghetti, Noah and I had some cleaning up to do. As I was wiping his face I said, "You're messy." In his most matter of fact voice, he responds, "I not messy. I Noah!"

I eat that....

Noah is going through a phase where he'll say, "I eat that ____________."

Fill in the blank: fish, house, dinosaur, dog, frog. Pretty much anything that is in sight or on his mind!

Shh...dinosaurs coming!

On Saturday, Noah and I laid down to take a nap. A roll of thunder rang through the sky.

Noah: "What's that?"
Mommy: "Thunder."
Noah: "Funder?"
Mommy: "Yes, thunder."
Noah: "No...dinosaurs coming!"

Treasured Moments

Noah and I had some quality time recently when Dad was out of town for work. We took the opportunity to watch the movie Cars. As we were cuddled up in the chair, he looks up at me and just smiles from ear to ear--you could just see the joy in his eyes. It was like he was saying, "Mom, I think you're the greatest."

This morning I was combing his crazy hair to get ready for school. After getting it all styled I praised him saying, "Noah, mommy thinks your SO HANDSOME!" He got the sweetest shy smile on his face and I was rewarded with a giant bear hug.

Being a mom sure has its rewards.

"Bad Mommy!"

Potty training is still in progress at the Lankard house. Noah had a diaper and I heard the tell-tale grunting sounds. I quickly ushered Noah over to the potty and helped him drop his drawers hoping there was still time. No such luck. He gave it the 'ole toddler try and sat down, but since business was over, he only sat there long enough for me to momentarily turn my attention away. He stood up, yanked up his drawers, and in doing so, smeared you know what ALL OVER the inside of his pants. Then, he proceeded to tease me from the opposite side of the coffee table just out of my reach.

When I finally got a hold of him, I was explaining to him--not even scolding-- how it was a bad boy to have an accident, that we should take care of business in the potty. He says to me, "NO! Bad mommy!"

I thought Ryan was going to pee his pants laughing in the other room. I had a hard time keeping my own face straight.

And so it begins...
